On March 2 the activity which was dedicated to Shrovetide took place in St. G. Narekatsi yard.Ten students of high school N17 after Movses Khorenatsi took  part in the activity by leading of Armenian church history teacher A. Petrosyan  and parent council.

    Students were particularly impressed with modernized performance of  ‛‛Shrovetide‛‛ fairy tale by Hovhannes Tumanyan .The word ‛‛Shrovetide‛‛ is composed of the words ‛‛good‛‛,‛‛liveliness‛‛ and means happiness.

    People visit each other  or  family members gather around the festival tables and rejoice.

     The main food on that day is pilau with oil. Tumanyan’s hero had brought oil and rice for this pilau.

  Original  Shrovetide is always celebrated on Sunday and comes to an end on the same day in the evening.Great Lent begins since next Monday morning.It had educative and teaching purpose.
